Interestingly enough, I found out from a TAFM reader who grew up next to the Sweeney family that Charles Sweeney was a deeply-religious, committed Catholic, which makes it sooooo ironic that he would drop an A-bomb on the biggest Catholic Church in Asia, built by the descendants of the Catholics who opposed the Tokugawa Shogunate. She said he never spoke of the Nagasaki mission.

Unlike Tibbets, who on at least two occasions in the 70s and 80s flew the Commemorative Air Force's B-29 in their annual airshow. The one time recreating the bombing.
